Onebag V5 2025
Updated on 2025.12.31
In 2021, I was inspired to get rid of most of my personal possessions and attempt to live out of a backpack for the foreseeable future. Below is a list of the main possessions that I use on a daily basis. I plan to keep the number of things that I own within the confines of my bag regardless of my location. This helps me stay intentional about what I own and what I choose to purchase.I update this page every year, noting what has changed and what has stayed the same.

Tom Bihn Synapse 25: Replaced the Spec Ops T.H.E. Pack. Found used on eBay. This is a return to a layout I used years ago and still prefer. Better external access, better internal organization, and a cleaner overall form factor. Even at 25L, it carries everything I need without feeling restrictive.
Goruck Shadow Pocket: Still using this as my dopp kit. Simple, durable, and easy to pack.
2018 Macbook Pro 15 inch: Still using this computer. Recently the battery has degraded to where I have to keep it plugged in all the time. Still trying to get some use out of it before the battery fails. Might replace in 2026.
Ipad Pro 11-inch 3rd Gen: Great for note-taking and drawing as well as content consuming. Love using it as an external monitor when needed.
Iphone 16 Pro: Upgraded from the iPhone 13 mini. Better camera system, battery life, and overall longevity. I love the camera and new programmable "action button."
Apple Airpods Pro 2: Realized I left them out of the picture because I was wearing them. They are irreplaceable at this point. Probably my most used item other than my iphone. Love the noise canceling and sound quality.
Apple Magic Keyboard V2: Really like this keyboard still I use it with my laptop stand to have a more elevated setup. Since the keyboard on my macbook is malfunctioning, this has really helped this year.
Logitech G305 Wireless Mouse: Bought a replacement for my my G305 that broke 2 years ago. Still love this mouse for its portability and its ability to run off of a single AA battery.
VRURC 10000mAh Portable Charger: Has built in USB-C, Micro USB, and lightning cables for charging. Has come in handy many times since my iPhone 13 mini has a limited battery life. Also can plug directly into the wall to charge which is a neat feature.
Samsung USB-C Flash Drive – 512GB (USB 3.2 Gen 1): Added as a temporary tool to migrate data to the cloud and retire an aging external hard drive before failure. Tiny, fast, and doesn’t require carrying an extra cable.
WD Passport External Hard Drive 1TB: This thing is old. I'm really worried that it is going to stop working so It is definitely due for an upgrade.
Roost Laptop Stand V1: Not a machine but it is by far the item that has sparked the most questions when working in public. Still works like a champ. Might try the V3 to see if it fits my needs better.
Department Store Hoodie: Got this a while when I was shopping and it has held up great. I wish that the material was thinner which would make it more versatile and packable. Does the job though.
Mr. Davis Black V-Neck T-Shirts: Replaced the Gildan V-necks. Significantly better fit and fabric. Longer cut since they’re technically undershirts, but I’ve adjusted.
Darn Tough Socks: The ankle version. These are hands down the best socks that I have ever used. I'm really hard on footwear and these things take daily abuse with ease.
Jockey Boxer Briefs: Love the spandex material in these. Been using this style for many years. I'm picky about underwear so not sure what will knock these off the list.
GINGTTO Men's Skinny Stretch Jeans Slim Fit: I'm a big fan of skinny jeans. The super stretchy kind. I hate feeling restricted by clothing. These are decent jeans but the only problem with them is that I have to replace them every 6 months due to a hole forming in the groin area. Still searching for a more durable pair.
Baeleaf 5” Workout Shorts: Use these for exercise. Have enough to last a week's worth of workouts. Very lightweight and breathable.
JCrew Navy Board Shorts: Still using these as my swimsuit. Love the stretch in them. They are barely pretty worn out now so looking for a replacement.
New Balance Minimus Shoes: Luckily I snagged a pair of these this year when New Balance restocked them on their website. They aren't true black but the fit and feel is amazing so far. Easily my favorite shoes.
Oral B Electric Toothbrush: My Quip finally died on me so I had too replace it with this one. I like the physical buttons on this one vs the buttons on the quip.
Old Spice Deodorant: Don't have Aqua Reef in travel size.
Hair Gel: Göt2b
Crest 3D Whitening Toothpaste: I find that I like using the same scent of toothpaste for a long time.
Tongue Scraper: The absolute best cure for bad breath.
Contacts: For vision.
Floss Picks: Makes daily flossing a breeze.
Ray Ban Classic Tortoise: Love the polarized glass sepia lenses. I've had these for a long time.
Surefire Sidekick: Great Keychain light. Always have it on me. I only use this now since having 2 flashlights is overkill.
Nite Ize DoohicKey: Trying this instead of my swisstool. It's much lighter but I still miss my multitool.
Rite in the Rain Notebook: Replaced my molskine notebook. I like the spiral bound layout and weatherproofing but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the waxy paper.
Countycomm Pendulum Pen: Replaced a disposable Bic pen. Smaller, more durable, and attaches easily to my wallet. Uses a blue Fisher Space Pen refill.
Cheap travel umbrella: Re-added for practicality. Lightweight, inexpensive, and preferable to getting soaked.
